ReliefWeb » Document » Horn of Africa Alert – Jun 2009

October 6, 2009

The overall food security situation in the Horn of Africa for the first half of 2009 has remained alarming and prospects for the second half of the year are grim. An estimated 19.8 million people, including 4 million children under the age of 5, are in need of emergency assistance. This is a sharp increase from the 14 million people requiring such assistance in September 2008.The failure of rains in 2008, and the late start of the raining season in the first quarter of 2009, threaten the livelihoods of local communities in the region. Between 1 February 2009 and mid-May, less than 50 percent of normal precipitation were observed in the northern and southern parts of Somalia, in most of Kenya and in the central and eastern parts of Ethiopia.

ReliefWeb » Document » Somalia: Thousands stranded near the Kenyan border

October 6, 2009

NAIROBI, 6 October 2009 (IRIN) – At least 5,000 conflict- and drought-displaced Somalis are facing an uncertain future in Bulo Hawo, a town controlled by Al-Shabab on the border with Kenya, locals told IRIN on 6 October.”There are about 900 families [5,400 people], mostly in a makeshift camp in no-man’s land on the outskirts of town, hoping to cross into Kenya,” said Ugas Mohamed Sheikh Ahmed, a senior elder in Bulo Hawo.He said most of these families had fled the violence in Mogadishu while others had been displaced by drought. The UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR Kenya) told IRIN: “Although we are not present in Mandera [on the Kenyan side of the border], we are in touch with authorities there. Most refugees are, however, entering Kenya through Liboi [to reach the Dadaab camp, 590km southwest of Bulo Hawo].”

Seize the time – Challenge the d

October 6, 2009

The Ethiopian Prime Mister has been a very visible figure lately. If there is such thing as frequent flyer marketing by Ethiopian Airlines Meles is sure to have enough to go to the moon and back. Stop wishing it were a one-way ticket ok? The period after the 2005 general election has not been good to Meles. The sure win situation was spoiled by the upstart and spoiled brat called Kinijit. Kinijit took the wind out of Meles and his ethnic entourage. TPLF (EPDRF) was shown to be a house built on sand. A little strong wind and the whole thirteen years Hollywood style façade were shattered to pieces. Kinijit victory was total. The Ethiopian people knew it. The foreign observers concurred. The only one denying reality was TPLF

Somali Intellectuals Demand of Sheikh Sharif to Resign Now and Avoid Terrible Punishment

October 4, 2009

https://i0.wp.com/www.somalilandglobe.com/images/2009/02/mogadishu-amisom.jpgThe presence of the gullible and inexperienced Sheikh Sharif as TFG president does not reflect the wishes and the interests of any Somali. The only exception in the aforementioned rule is made by the few Somali warlords and Mafia leaders who used to be bribed by the racist Neo-Nazi Amhara Abyssinians and act according to foreign Anti-Somali interests.Apart from them, not a single Somali supports the pseudo-sheikh who calmly and unrepentantly plunges the entire Somali Nation into unprecedented discord, extreme misery, and unconditional capitulation to the Illustrious African Muslim Nation’s most barbaric, most racist, and most iniquitous enemies. The devastation triggered by the person, who shamefully presented himself as saviour in Asmara in order to be proven as destroyer in Mogadishu, is immense. The previous fake president of Somalia, Abdillahi Yousef, was not a sheikh, did not involve the religion of Islam into politics, and did not have the posture of the grand redeemer. He promised very little and delivered nothing; unfortunately, for the entire Somali Nation, there was worse.

October 4, 2009

Somalia MapThe struggling African Union (AU) Mission in Somalia (AMIS) has suffered a further blow with the European Union (EU) suspending financial support for it due to alleged lack of accountability by the AU, which deployed the mission to pacify the Horn of Africa nation. Also, it has been discovered that malnutrition, rather than poison, was responsible for the death of at least two Ugandan AMIS peacekeepers who died mysteriously.EUs financial pullout has left the over 1,500 soldiers (in AMIS) without allowances for now three months, Uganda Defence Minister Crypus Kiyonga reveals. It is largely due to AUs failure to account for funds in recent months, Dr. Kiyonga said, without giving further details.

UN, AU, US, UK, EU, IGAD: Responsible for Somalia’s Dire Humanitarian Situation

October 4, 2009

By imposing their unacceptable and unrepresentative puppet Sheikh Sharif on the Somalis, by provoking the heroic Somali resistance against the barbaric AMISOM soldiers, and by forcing the impotent clown Sheikh Sharif to defend his absolutely illegal position, the global community bears full responsibility for Genocide against the Somali Nation. The international community, by waging a direct war against the existence of the Somali Nation, demonstrates the striking absence of Law, Justice and Morality in the sphere of international politics. This undeniable reality will trigger thunderous reactions of unprecedented dimensions because in and by itself, it justifies every reaction – involving all possible existing means – from the part of any individual. While I will expand on the consequences of the criminal act currently perpetrated in Eastern Africa by the UN, AU, EU, US, UK and the Neo-Nazi bogus-institution IGAD in further editorials, in this article I republish several recent IRIN reports that bear witness to the prevailing dire humanitarian situation in Central and Southern Somalia. This is a shame for the entire Mankind; it will irrevocably have the same dire consequences for the prevailing iniquitous, inhuman and absolutely evil world order
